Thanks to our generous support from donors, we traveled to New York and Illinois last month to interview Dr. Julian Bailes and Dr. Jospeh Fins, who will be appearing in Storming - lending their expert knowledge on brain trauma, treatment for traumatic brain injuries, social and ethical issues surrounding brain injuries and more.
Dr. Julian Bailes, M.D.
Dr. Bailes is the Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Co-Director of the NorthShore Neurological Institute and consultant to the NFL Players Association. His expertise in treatment of brain injuries will help to educate viewers about the causes, treatments and outlooks of brain injuries - from mild concussions to severe traumatic brain injuries such as Ryan Diviney’s.
Dr. Joseph Fins, M.D., M.A.C.P
Dr. Fins is Chief of the Division of Medical Ethics at Weill Cornell Medicine, serving as Professor of Medicine, Professor of Public Health and Professor of Medicine in Psychiatry. He is the author of Rights Come to Mind and was appointed by President Clinton to The White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy
As an acclaimed advocate for the rights of patients in unknown states of consciousness, Dr. Fins will educate viewers on the ethical dilemmas surrounding families and patients effected by traumatic brain injuries that have left them in comas or vegetative states.
